Re: Character Creation question
How about some sort of adopted brother?
You are a victim of mechanic strategy over role-playing. Think outside the box. Role-play.

Re: Character Creation question
I thought it might be the simplest and easiest solution. I'm no expert on elf/dwarf relations in carps, but I'm not sure they can interbreed, etc. I'm pretty sure there's no half dwarfs though...

Re: Character Creation question
well yea but it also doesnt help that dwarfs and elfs dont like eachother

Re: Character Creation question
well either you as a dwarf has a tolerance for that one elf or vise versa.
and either way you play it, the elf would have dwarf mannerisms or the dwarf has elf mannerisms.
But you still have to check with the gms. you are not normally supposed to come in knowing anybody. But there have been exceptions in the past.

Re: Character Creation question
Yep, adoption is probably the best option.
Dwarves can't really interbreed at CARPS (or at least it's not known to be possible) and elves highly frown on it. Elves and dwarves mixing doesn't seem to work genetically.
That being said yes, you could have a bond with that one elf and dwarf.
There are rules against coming in 'knowing someone' but that's been generally held to knowing an established character in the game. We're obviously not against newer players knowing each other and forming groups (it's great for plots, roleplaying, and fun!), the rule is there to prevent someone coming in as Darthesis's long lost brother and Darthesis giving him a huge quantity of money and magic items!

Re: Character Creation question
Yep, don't need to be his brother for that, but yes, taking him 'under your wing' for the first event or two is a great way to make sure he has a good time. Adoptive brother is cool, blood brother due to one of you saving each other's life (or both so no debts are owed) is all good.

Re: Character Creation question
If you choose to use your rewrite now, you do get the September cp to work with. Remember it is a max of 45 points in merits.
