Royal Decrees

by NPC Sandy
*A Royal Messenger walks into the Inn to post two individual official royal documents, both with proper seals*
The first reads (in common):

"To whomever should be so interested, the Baron VonDroven is offering a bounty on a white roe seen in the Dark Woods. A trophy of the hunt must be presented to the Baron to receive proper reward."

The second reads (also in common):
"Due to the deplorable and offensive behavior at the recent tournament, the Queen of Silverthorn has decreed that all female residents of the lands must take etiquette lessons and all gentlemen must take dancing lessons during the next moon on October 15th. These lessons are to improve the general character and demeanor of the common-folk and it is hoped all will take part. Time to be announced."

Elias reads over the notes that have been posted, before remarking aloud, "Your rulers don't seem to have much to occupy their time."

ziggy reads the note, laughs, followed by busting the tiniest of groves.

"oh yeah, ziggy gonna get his grove on!"

I love nobles. So all females have to learn how to dance but only gentlemen have to learn. So that's Jack, can't wait to see that, Jack with all the ladies. I like those decrees.

*Winter laughs as she looks over to Chronixxx*

So, what do you suppose a "White Roe" is?

Saw that too. My guess Noble's can't write very good and they meant a white Doe. But doesn't Von Droven have his own hunting grounds? Why does he need someone else to hunt a Doe for him? Isn't the hunt the most important part?

*Winter shrugs*

Who knows when it comes to Nobles.

"A roe is a type of wild deer, sirs and ladies. And knowing the Baron personally, I can say that he does not have any white deer on his hunting ground. I believe the idea is to have a trophy without the work, perhaps. He is a busy man."

*Rohaine smiles before going back to her embroidery*

"And gentlemen are learning dancing. Ladies are learning etiquette. As far as I know, the lessons are separate."

*Res scrutinizes the decrees and then shrugs*, "I think the Baron plans on scattering white fish eggs all over the forest, personally."

"The seals look official I guess. Doesn't mean they aren't a fake though. I have a hard time believing the Queen would mandate dancing and etiquette lessons for peasants, although maybe she thinks the army doesn't have enough on their hands. I'm sure the generals would love taking time off the war to go round up Billy-Bob Peasant and arrest him for failing to learn how to foxtrot."

It clearly says only gentlemen are required to attend. Clearly the queen being as politically savvy as a queen must be knows the difference between freemen and peasants and gentlemen and so therefore one must take the proclamation as it is written. I'm not sure we have any actual gentlemen in our town? Unless she means all those of gentle status? Then that could include Wren should she ever show back up and Kathryn and Sylas?

* To Daniel*
It says only gentlemen must learn to dance. It says all female residents must learn etiquette. I find this interesting and in line with what Res was stating in regards to the peasants learning etiquette.

But it should prove interesting regardless.

Interesting, I shall have to be sure to hide at the appropriate time.

And yes, Roe is a type of deer, sometimes considered the most noble of all the deer species. Although the darkwood can be extremely dangerous at night, if one were to hunt for it during the day it might be possible to find it given a wilderness tracker of sufficient skill.

Well he's not in this kingdom, but he is in his home land and I believe that's close enough for Government :). Have fun at the dance Hammy!
