A man enters the inn

Post by Sir Llyshon »

A man dressed in scholarly robes enters the inn. He is thin, looks to be in his early 20's and stands about 5'6" tall. At his waist are several large pouches stuffed with papers, and there is a belt hanger identifying him as a member of Toevass (7th tome for those of you who know such things). When he looks around the room you get the distinct impression that he is "cataloging" everything in it and committing it to memory. After a moment, he takes a seat at the table in the corner, and pulls out a piece of parchment, an inkwell, and a quill from one of his pouches. He looks up at the barkeep and states in a very brusque tone, "I will take a glass of meade, if you don't mind, good fellow."

*The man turns and looks at Maka. His eyes flick over her from boots to head, and he nods,* "Hello orc. I am Edgar of House Toevass. What do you call yourself?"

*Edgar dips his quill into the inkwell in front of him and scratches a few lines on the parchment, though his eyes never leave Maka's face as he writes*, "I am investigating something most curious. Tell me, what do you know of the magic dead zone that has inundated the area as of late?"

Yes, we had an issue with a man radiating a very large portable magic dead zone. Very interesting occurance, but I'm not sure what happened to the man. But for those of us who us magic to defend oursleves, well, it was problematic. :D

"Ah, Keeper Edgar, well met (assuming we've not met before.) The name's Lockheart. It is true that there was an individual around these parts that was radiating a moving magic dead zone. Most unusual and something that I myself had intended to look into. I had actually asked a few others to see if they could do some initial research, but all they learned is that "something" bad could happen worse that what we were seeing should he be killed. So we had him moved out of town as we were in the middle of a far more pressing crisis of dealing with hordes of lycanthropes attacking and the last thing we wanted was for him to be killed or worse turned. I am glad someone has taken a serious interest in the man."

ziggy climbs up a tiny ladder behind the bar, pours the man a drink, takes the coin that was dropped for the drink and climbs back down the ladder, walking around the bar to hand the drink to the newcomer.

Edgar stands up and acknowledges his betters with a slight bow, "Keeper Daniel." (he blinks, after he says this and looks decidedly in awe of Daniel), "And keeper Cudar. I am glad to have found you both so quickly. Yes, I am arcanist from the House investigating this matter. I was traveling through Tarragon when I heard the news, and sent messengers immediately to the House. They have taken a very serious interest in the matter and have asked me to request your aid in studying this... phenomena." He drops his voice lower, though it is still audible enough to be heard by those who strain their ears to do so, "There is also some concern that the Guild of Magi will attempt to secure this thing before we are able to... acquire it for Toevas."

Edgar blinks and looks over at Edrick, then back to Daniel. Comprehension dawns slowly on his face, "A... man?" He quirks an eyebrow to the Sixth Tome, "Did you say a person? A LIVING person? My this does complicate matters...."
