Greetings People of Midway there are a few changes that have happened.
Taxes for the city have increased.
For merchants, which is anyone who deals in the sale of of goods or services there will be an increase of 5% across the board. In return though if you are interested in construction of a building to deal goods and services out of there is a merchant district currently being zoned to do this in.
So if you are in a guild your tax rate is now 35% not 30% and if you own a personal writ to conduct business that tax rate just increased by 5%.
For houses, There will be a 10% tax increase on all houses, In return if your house did not own a building you are now able to construct one with in Midway. Toevass and Jakoric both own one but now Devris and Mandalor can construct one if desired.
These Tax increases are in effect immediately.

Darthesis waits for a lull in the conversation. He steps up, whispers something into Andrew's ear, pats him on the shoulder, and leaves.

*Res frowns* "Why did they increase? I don't understand it... almost everywhere else in the Kingdom the tax rate is 30%? Did you guys piss off someone in Mandalor?"
*He sighs* "Just my luck. I finally get my guild status and now my overhead has gone up. Unfortunately I'm going to have to pass this on to my customers."

*Res' frown deepens* "Then you want to fill us in as to WHY this is happening? People generally want to know why their money is being messed with."

I was asked by the thane to increase merchant taxes by 5% and house taxes by 10%. A merchant is anyone who deals in goods or services.
Thus the 5% goes towards all guilds and personal writs and houses are now required to pay 10% more than before on all house revenue gained.

*Res smirks* "So THAT'S what a 'Merchant' is... and all this time I thought it was someone who had the lower body of an ant. Thank you so much for clearing that up."
"Well the Thane really wanted to ease us in to the new taxes, eh? Especially the Houses. You know what is funny... if you pay to get those new buildings built... he gets additional money from THOSE taxes too. Gotta love it."
"Hey, you don't happen to know if the Thane owns any construction companies, do you? Or how about lube? Does he manufacture that? Cuz he sure didn't pass *THAT* out for free along with these proclamations."
