*Kenric Sayne enters the tavern*

"I'm looking for Kathryn or Jack, I wish to speak to them about a matter most important to me."

Jack appears behind Kenric.

"What is it you need to speak with me about?"

*Kathryn looks up from a book*

Yes?

"I don't know if you remember me, but the three of us spoke before about my interest in House DeVris. I have though upon the matter, and I would like to be considered for membership into the house."

"If that is what you want, I will speak with the local DeVris house head."

Jack looks to Kathryn.

"Unless you have cause I should not, of course."

"Thank you Jack, I appreciate the help. Your faith won't be misplaced."

"I will make you a member of my House. But before I make you one of us I must speak to you alone."

"This can easily be arranged"

It is your decision, Jack, but I usually like to know someone a little longer first.

*she smiles*

No offense of course. I just like to make sure of your path in life first.

"I will make sure he understands the responsibilities of his position and, the consequences of betraying House DeVris."

Ouch, I heard those consequences are rough.

Now if Devris does not work out for you, we are always looking for a few good enforcers for Mandilore.

*she casually turns a page*

Of course, our protege hasn't yet said whether he has decided to be a magistrate, cavalier, or mage hunter... Though I'm sure if it were cavalier, you'd leave the induction to me, yes?

"Yes but, I would prefer all members spend some time as a Magistrate first."

*Turns to Kathryn*

"No offense taken. As for what I have decided to be, I would like to be a cavalier. However, if Jack thinks it is a good idea for me to spend time as a magistrate first, I can see no problem with that."

*Kathryn closes the book, marking her place with her finger and turns to Jack*

Yes, starting as a Magistrate is a good idea. As you know, I was one myself for many years. It is an excellent opportunity to learn the law quickly and put the knowledge to practice frequently and with supervision if necessary.

However, *she turns to Kenric* a move to Cavalier should be approved by me if you want to stay on my good side *she laughs a little, as if the last comment were a joke* If Cavalier is something you seriously wish to pursue, you should be aware that the skills needed are slightly different then a Magistrate may need. For example, Jack is wonderful at finding his way around in the city, whereas I am better in the woods.

*she opens the book back up again and glances down to the pages*
