*A drunken Rooks sits up from behind the bar*

"I am the here... he is... the there... what am i needed for? Mountain slaying perhaps???"

*Aroura smiles at Rooks*

I need to talk to you about the Mages Guild definition of 'Caster'. What make's a person a Caster, someone who can weild magic, someone who can read magic or just someone interested in magic and learning such skills?

"Simply being able to read it is the first step down the path. It takes ones own ability to pull magic from a page and bring it forth, to cast it. Interest in such things just makes one a dubious knave, who is looking into things that this kingdom poo poo at. Looking into it may very well bring you under suspicion of the mages hunters, but per the guild... interest is not the same as ability. I think that covers it... wait... what are we talking about?"

Just a simple question of does a person have to register with the mages guild when they can cast by body (spell power) or by knowledge (wield magic/read write magic)?

Just so I know who has to check in with me and who I should question in regards to if they are a mage or not. And later when you have not been enjoying the dwarfish wine quite so much I would talk with you on other things.

*walking out of his room, visibly stepping over Rooks without a glance*
"You must be registered for both, or either as the case may be. I myself had to register years ago when I learned to read scrolls."

"I believe Kimbrlyns departure from DeVris is due to this very thing. The obtuse difference between 'casting' and 'casting'."
*shrugs and heads for the door*
"Excuse me. I have to visit the little Caldonians tree.."

"Hehe... Sylas, i saw up your skirt. And they say elves are dainty!"

Well Kymberlyn is why I'm asking these questions. She wishes to register with the Mage's Guild and I wanted to see if that would be allowed, as she is currently able to Scroll cast, but not wield the magic herself.

"hyup, she gotta register, or she is in noooo noooo land"

*Walks in during that last part and looks a Rooks*

If you are talking about registering as someone who can read scrolls I did that a long time ago and sent it again when I sent DeVris all of my remaining paperwork.

What I think is being asked is if I could rejoin the Guild of Mages since DeVris has decided that casting includes the ability to read off of scrolls.


*She grins at Rooks*

Don't worry I wouldn't want to venture into no no land. I enforced that part of the law way to much and as I remember back in the day the Guild itself wanted me to keep track of those that can read magic as well. I'm searching for where I fit in now a days and thought of the Guild of Mages first. If you have time I can talk to you Rooks about what I was thinking.

"Sylas has to drain his little tinkle maker, I'll get you a drink"

*Rooks stands up and thumbs through the mugs looking for kimberlyn's. He finds it and begins to poor... something into it*

"Here ya go! I don't see any reason not to join us... assuming you still want to cast... silly humans... I mean, It's us or house Toevass... and you know what i heard about those guys... They read books! I mean really, who does that anymore... Drink up kimberlyn, it will greatly increase the... revenue for the bar!"

*Looks at Rooks curiously*

Well seeing that by DeVris standards I'm a caster already by being able to read magic off of scrolls I don't think I really have much of a choice now do I?

Besides, I remember getting along with most of the High Council anyway back in the day and I think I was happy there being their little enforcer. It was a thought I shared with Aroura and she was going to ask you about it because I didn't know if you'd be around to talk to you one on one.

*she pauses*

Ok what's in the drink or what is so special about the drink?

"I think Sylas put alcohol in it... he sure put it in mine."

*Kimberlyn laughs*

Well then it's an extra special terrific drink.
