Here is my recommendation for our first group, based on the volunteers we have so far. 

1. - Warrior - Morgrin -His large blade will work well alongside Jason's shield. 
2. - Warrior - Jason - Both a good warrior fighting with a shield as the point of our formation and skilled at repairing armor, to keep those who go so encumbered alive
3. - Mage - The Elf -He's the only one I know of
4. - Trap Rogue - Res Ipsa. Definitely not a warrior.
5. - Loremaster/riddle person - Myself
6. - Healer - wink, if we can get her. Maka with potions, If not. 
7. - Offensive geared Warrior/Assassin- I'd love to get Jack, but it appears he has no interest. Anyone else?
8. - utility/Oh shit guy -

The rest seem to be important roles, but of those who've signed up we have only fighters.

"Don't be foolish and think that one role alone will serve you, elf. Learn some healing spells and some boosting spells. Raise dead, if you can. I could just as easily serve the offensive warrior role, but I placed myself in one that no one else looks to be able to fill. If you're multi-purposes we'll have a better chance to survive."

I am sure that those planning this, whoever they may be (I have not been paid to lead this venture) know my skills. I would also say that Vaellar's list of roles for such a venture would work well for this or any caving. You can usually get by with less and with a missing link, but not the Cave of the Ancients.

However for everyone else, for the final group I can perform the following roles:

I am an offensively geared warrior who can kill quickly when needed. I can deal with a great number of traps. There are one or two better than I in town, but I can fill that role. I can fill the role of of a loremaster/seer as well if necessary, my information gathering skills are first rate in all areas. I am also certainly able to fill the utility role between skills, potions, scrolls, and items.

I can fight on the front lines as a warrior for short periods of time while they are being healed and having their armor repaired, and I have enough healing to help adequately, but I would not define myself in either role. I will have a sizable number of scrolls but I would not place myself in any magi role, a true magi is required for a venture of this danger.

I've updated opening list. I believe as given group two is a very ready and able group. We may need to move a few around based upon availability, but that's almost always the case. Group one looks good as Cudar has given it, however if others are willing to come we may move some people around.

I am not against having 3 full parties enter if we have the bodies. First team to clear the first floor only. Second team of people above historical statue to do second maybe third based upon how they are with ability remaining. Finally the big hitters to finish the mission. For all I know the flower may be found on the first floor right inside the entrance. If that were the case some may not wish to proceed into the cave at all believing that it is then nothing more than treasure hunting in one of the most dangerous places in our world. We will keep flexible at all times with our teams and their makeups.

*To Cudar* "Like I said... I'm pretty good at seeing things that others can't. I'd probably fill the... fill the role of the traps/rogue guy, though my methods are bit unorth... unortho... they're a bit wierd. Gods, but if we are talkin' business here I think i need to sober up a bit.... 'scuse me" *Res stands up and wobbles out of the inn. You hear the sound of the pump running out front and then loud cursing. When he returns a moment later, his head is sopping wet, and water is dripping from his chin. He grins* "Much better. It helps that I smacked myself in the cheek with that damned pump handle. Nothing like pain and cold water to kill a buzz... also angry fathers can do that too... but that's another story."

"I may disarm traps with a different technique than others in the business, but i've been likened to an expert at it, and I can even disarm the magical ones. I'm also better than an expert at finding hidden things... items mostly, but some creatures. I'm an expert astrologer and a master soothsayer, though I'd be better at both of those if I had some tools to take with me. I can even pick very, very simple locks... if I had a lockpick, that is. Did I mention that I had all my stuff stolen before I got into town? I may need some loaner tools."

"Anyway, I'm really good at throwing daggers and can cause a surprising amount of pain to things if they aren't looking. I can dodge around some and avoid getting hit a bit, but I'm no warrior."

"As for me being the 'oh shit' guy... If it's 'oh shit... a trap!' I got you covered. If you put me in as a warrior though, it'd be more like 'Oh shit... Res is down again.', 'oh shit... Res needs ANOTHER healing potion', 'oh shit, Res is in the corner crying... and I think he wet himself.' So let's take me out of the utility spot, please and put me right square in the traps/rogue spot, with some overlap in the riddle category."

"The list has been amended Res, fear not. Although I swear by my sword, if I find you've pissed yourself, you can find someone else to administer that healing potion.
We might be able to get you some tools for soothsaying. Probably not to your full potential, but a bit. I can help with traps a tiny bit and have a bit of knowledge of astrology. I'll probably try to use it before we head in, to take best advantage."

Note also that I am willing to loan out certain of my tools and non-magical items for the initial group or groups if it is necessary for them to fulfill their roles. Be it portable laboratories, tools for lock picking and trap removal, etc. We can work out the details in person but I'm there will be no fees for their use, I have been paid to help in any way that I can. The only details I'm speaking of is how we would handle the possibility of the implements being lost or destroyed.

Well, I do have a rudimentary healing spell, and I don't know how effective I would be if I had to raise the dead more than once or twice. I shall, however, attempt to learn it before our endeavor.

"I've been listening to your plans while I've been working in my lab. I may be available to go in one of the groups, but only maybe. If I am not able to go, I will do what I can to supply potions to those that are going. Unfortunately, I have other business that may keep me busy when you attempt the cave. When are you planning on going again?"
