Well then, I guess I'm going to the tower too, I wish to have words with him.

"I love listening to the hand-less thief talk about how to act around ones betters. Maybe he should have read our laws better before stealing. Or is that how the noble, wise and, powerful elves act in their homeland? I think he should set a better example before speaking about wisdom and propriety."

Jack you are correct it is funny.

I am surprised that the skress in charge has yet to do financial penalty on top of the physical sentence. Eh who am I to nit pick though.

Then again it seems everyone he has condemned also had no items or money on them when sentenced. I just find it odd since the break down for that is: 30% to the Town Council,30% to the victim or victim‘s family or local nobility if there was no obvious victim. 10% to the local DeVris head and 30% in taxes. From what I can guess he is handing the offending parties belongings back to them after sentence.

I know nothing was handed over to taxes in the last two months since well I do the books for the town and taxes are due bi-monthly and he did sentence a few people on his first month here that I saw had items on them. Mainly just common quality blades and such though.

Was the confiscation of the condemned individuals belongs ceased at some point for this town? Just curious since you would know more about that than I would.

If it is taken as punishment then it is given over to Mandalore. No longer does the town, thane or, any but the House of Mandalore have claim over belongings of the condemned. But only if the forfeiture is part of the punishment. This was the decision of the King's council some time ago. While DeVrie no longer has coffers of our own, due to this ruling. It is now Mandalore's charge to pay all bounties and, fund any endeavor DeVrie requires to fulfill our duty to the throne.

In that case it would mean Devris has not confiscated anything from a condemned criminal since at least 1008 ewr for midway or legacy while it was under Lord Silverthorns reign.

On the other hand there has been no need to pay out for a warrant either so it balances at the moment. This raises a large concern since I was un-aware that law was changed.

It also concerns me that members of your house may need funds for a warrant and with no revenue from your house there may be not be enough to fund one.

I would not worry about that my friend. The houses are national organizations and, as such I doubt that Mandalore would ever fail in its duty. Just as DeVrie cavaliers and, all true servants of our King would empty our veins of blood to bring criminals to justice. The good man and women of Mandalore would empty their own pockets to ensure his will is done also. No man has any doubt of your houses honor.

There may be a few more laws I need to review then since it appears changes have been made since I last reviewed them.

Is your house still allowing a fine to be paid in return for the condemned individual to become an indentured servant for a period of time to the payee for restitution of the offending parties crimes. It's an old option since it also required if i recall the offended party or in the case of no party the magistrate decreeing the punishment to agree upon the monetary value of the crime.

I was just curious if it was still in effect since if I see someone on trial that may have a better use to me alive than dead or missing body parts if it was still possible to negotiate alternative options.
