Spell Slot Access

Post by Darrius »

Hello, i am going to be starting a Human Mage character with specialty access to water and fire elements. I was wondering, if i got the merit: Skill Natural, and i used it to boost the read magic skill, which also boosts the wield magic skill, to major access, could i then purchase my spell slots at major access level, or would i still have to buy them at specialty level? Many Thanks!

Unfortunately a S/N in Read Magic would only boost Wield Magic as it is a 'post-req, one-shot'. While not exactly a 'leveled' skill, spell slots are still not one-shots and arent boosted. You would purchase them at Specialty.

Another spell question

Post by Darrius »

I was just wondering how much wield magic costs, is it the cost of the first spell slot? because the book lists the cost for spell slots under wield magic. Thanks!

Wield magic is a one-shot skill and is listed on the one-shot skill list with costs per your access.

The chart for costs of Read/Write, Read Magic and Weild Magic appear on the page prior to Spell slot costs as well.
(pg 218 in my book) Remember that the cost varies depending on the purchase of the Merit; Magic Sensitive.

Yes you can buy spell slots at character creation and you can buy actual spells for your spellbook with your starting money as well (this is handled at the game).
