Guild idea....

Post by Leonidas »

Is anyone interested in making an Assasin's guild? it is my first time LARPing, and i live in the Northville area. The thing is........ I am kind of young.. so just wondering. But i have a perfect cloth cloak assasin costume and i am quite quick in it. I am probably getting a dagger or a short sword Unless.. anyone has an old sword or dagger that i could buy off them at a certain meeting/game for 10-20 dollars. Better than chucking it, eh?

A couple things...

1) There is an assassin's guild, however it is part of the underworld and having people find out you are a member would get you in more than a bit of trouble. So come into game, roleplay around, and you'll figure out who might know more about how to join if it's something you're interested in.

2) Not sure people have old weapons to sell (but they might), but you can certainly borrow one from NPC camp for your first event or two, and then decide from there.

3) We do have a minimum age of 18... however we do make exceptions. We'd need one of the NPC staff to talk to you to see if you're mature enough and that your parents are okay with it prior to allowing you without any parental supervision. If this applies to you feel free to contact me on IM (all my IM handles are listed at the bottom of each post).

I didn't know Ja'Corrick is accepting new members. Did Artegal come back to town?

Maybe, but you wouldn't know, I don't think he'd check in with a knight.

I would suggest playing your first event before going the route of the assasin since assasinate has a pre-req of 120pts. so you wouldn't be able to start with it but you could purchase it after game start.

For the assassins guild it does exist and being a member to such an organization can result in your pc being hunted or executed if found out. Unlike in the spy missions where the assasin if found just has to dodge the authorities. Consider them having to dodge assasins and the law while both of those organizations can divine your location and also have people that are 10x faster and deadlier than you.

So it would be a very difficult route to play but still do able. Please also read over Astrology, Soothsaying, detect lie and skill natural before thinking of taking that route.

The 120 point pre-req was removed, so you can indeed come into game with the skills. You may not be the nastiest guy in a brawl though. ;)

And House Jakoric is a perfectly suitable alternative to the Assassins Guild. And legal to boot!

Wether or not it gets a new pre-req in the off season, its not technically a 'basic' skill. (for the subjects of Lore etc.)

Yep, it will likely get a new pre-req JUST so that you can't lore/mimic it.

That is a good thing. Being able to Lore up or mimic assasinate to just a little broken!

Yup. Found that out after downloading the rules. Well, I have been weeks alone by myself, just a friend. so i guess I have some amount of maturity. Also, I can take a hit. Or a magic bolt. I already costume.. if that is sufficent. But I have been following this LARP for quite a while. and I am not afraid to join the dark side... :evilbat:

This reminds me of a great story from another LARP.

The people involved:
Jonathan, a Hedge Knight and bit of a scoundrel.
Kaine, a rogue who thought himself more capable than he really was.
Benford, a Knight of the Gauntlet, sworn to defend the Crown.

This conversation happened along a darkened trail, late one moonless night.

Jonathan: So, Kaine, what brings you to our little swamp.
Kaine: I'm on the run from from Tarn. People around there finally had it in for me.
Jonathan: Had it in for you? Why?
Kaine (in a much lower voice): Well I had earned a rather fearsome reputation as an assassin.
Jonathan (in hushed tones): Assassin? You know they are outlawed by the Crown.
Kaine: Very funny Jonathan. Besides I'll pay you to keep the secret.
(Noise of approaching person)
Jonathan: So you'll take any contract?
Kaine: For the right amount of coin I'd slip a knife into the Crown Prince himself. And I'd get away with it, that's how good I am.
(Lantern lights a few feet away revealing a tall, armored knight armed with a mace.)
Jonathan: Greetings Sir Benford.
Benford: ....
Kaine: Gulp!!!
