Padding weapons

Post by Paladin777 »

Just because I'm curious and will be getting these for other purposes anyway, I was wondering if these would be viable to use if I padded the blades and pommels.

"Now combat with the sword is in essence a practice in which two opponents strive against each other with the sword with the intent that one will outmaneuver and overcome the other with intelligence and nimbleness, artfully, finely, and manfully, with cuts and other handwork."

You need to ask NPC Jason and Gm Todd on this one. Your best thing to do is to pm them both and ask.

I'm not a weapon marshal, and I'm not familiar with the specific item you're referring to, but from what little I know about martial arts training weapons, they would not be usable in CARPS.

I suspect adding sufficient padding to one would make it too thick or bulky for use and I'm fairly certain you would need to pad them to make them legal for use.

I don't think you can do this, as wood is not considered legal as a core material

This is truly an old post. An back in the day we could use bamboo or fiber-light cores.

Yes, but the thread was posted on by a newer player asking if they could use practice weaponry.

Assuming you're referring to Cold Steel training weapons, you wouldn't be able to use them per the rulebook. If you were to use them as a core and pad them, you'd definitely need to check if rubber can be used as a core with the GMs.
