25
A smile, a cheer, a fond farewell, the princess mage sets sail.
She seeks the hand of the King of Men to mend an alliance frail.
The First of Four, the arrives at dawn on ships the brightest white.
A slip of a girl, she doth have hope of ending the mages’ blight.
As she arrives to court a King, her father calls forth his sight,
To see the path that lays ahead, a warlord to unveil.
The King of Mages may strike a deal to aid the returned dark brother.
The mages unite with those below, the dark ones for to smother.
The Great War returns, and Day fights Night, the warriors of the pale.
With Sword and Shield and Spell they come, forth from the mountain trail.
In Armor white and silver bright, the Mage King sets sail,
To lead Crusaders of mystic might against their shadow brother.

In the kingdom of Alleria, all of the nobility are mages... Could this passage refer to them?

I do believe the Princess spoken of here is a Princess of Alleria.
I believe the stanza itself refers to the Kingdom of Alleria and its position in the coming war.

Jenna, it looks like you can start your matchmaking skills with the Princess of Alleria:
A smile, a cheer, a fond farewell, the princess mage sets sail.
She seeks the hand of the King of Men to mend an alliance frail.
The First of Four, the arrives at dawn on ships the brightest white.
A slip of a girl, she doth have hope of ending the mages’ blight.
As she arrives to court a King, her father calls forth his sight
That is, of course, if the King of Men is King Silverthorn.

It would be an interesting pairing due to how the King once viewed mages.

So, there are pros and cons to the King of Men marrying the Princess of Mages... If it is King Silverthorn and the Princess of Alleryia, then it will be a difficult match because the King does not trust mages. However, it may be beneficial because it will unite two powerful kingdoms, and in the coming war, that may be important...

He is leary of Mages due to the past. He does however see the benefits of mages. This is why there are Mage Slayers, to keep an eye on the mages and hunt down and well take care of necromancers and rogue magi.

**the young elf nods**

Yes, but I don't think that is important here. The question is not why King Silverthorn is leary of mages, but whether the King of Men will find a good match in the Princess of Mages.

He very well could and uniting those two Kingdoms would be beneficial for both.

Hey, this is Jenna's matchmaking gig.

Yes but what of this:
The King of Mages may strike a deal to aid the returned dark brother.
The mages unite with those below, the dark ones for to smother
Who are those below, if they are Dark elves then this could be a bad thing.

The King of Mages may strike a deal to aid the returned dark brother.
The mages unite with those below, the dark ones for to smother
The first line is a bit troublesome because we do not know who the dark brother is, but the second line seems to indicate that the mages will unite with *something* from below to smother the dark ones. This may indicate they are uniting to smother the dark elves, it may not. But the second line seems to indicate that they are not uniting with the dark elves to smother the dark elves. What other races live below the surface, and are any of these enemies of the dark elves? Perhaps this means the mages will unite with the Dwarves?

Yes that would make much more sense.

What about the snail people that live deep in the earth.

Another possibility.

*Twilight points to this particular stanza and addresses those present*

I was able to confer with the Lady Wren and Bombour this past moon, I have been unable to confirm anything as of yet, but this is what we think these lines may mean:

The King of Mages may strike a deal to aid the returned dark brother.

The King of Alleria may strike a deal to aid Gromm.

The mages unite with those below, the dark ones for to smother.

The Allerians unite with the Dwarves to battle the Dark Elves.
