23
The days made dark will have support of men made almost dwarves,
And when they see the light of day and new foes come to be,
The differences of kingdoms will find in them a mend.
As kingdoms close their gaps, the men themselves can change,
And when grandfathers tell tales of chivalry of a war that they had seen,
These men will find that they have found something they have not long been.

Please discuss below.

Hmm... the men from Caldonia are very tough, like dwarves. Perhaps this refers to them.

the daya are made dark in the dwarven mountains and the caldonians are fighting alongside the dwarves to help win the war.

It all fits.

But does "new foes come to be" imply that the Caldonians will come to become foes in the coming war "when they see the light of day"?

I think what it implies is that when they have helped the dwarves beat back the existing foes, new foes will "come to be" but it will not be the dwarves allies, for the passage seems to go on and extoll their virtues, not make them out to be enemies.
