19
In the high age of man, one fell to that which he fought, to now bring terror to the world.
His only sanctuary the bath of blood and the call of battle,
From the land of heroes many fought, fell and were lost, but not in vain.
The scourge lay trapped in the maw of the dragon till one came again unaware.
They have crossed blades but shall no more till the Birds of Life fly again,
And the hero long lost will raise his blade again and either light or dark will wane.

Please discuss below.

I believe this stanza pertains to Mayhem:

He once hunted the Vampire that made him.
Now he is cursed with Vampirism.
Many fought him and failed, because Mayhem is immune to weapons.
He became trapped in the Cave of the Ancients until Klogg inadvertently freed him.
Klogg and Mayhem fought ...

The rest of this line, as well as the last line have yet to come.

Birds of Life refer to the Phoenix.

So when the Phoenix fly again, Mayhem and Klogg will battle once more?

Interesting ...

Wouldn't that mean Klogg will lost to us for awhile?

I believe that either Mayhem is the hero long lost, or Klogg may get taken over by the sword.

Either is possible. I was just referring to the second to last line. The last line may very well mean that he who weilded the sword before it came to Mayhem, he who was able to hold him at bay for so long, will return.

I think from what this sounds that Mayhem WAS the hero and he fought a vampire named Mayhem. After he fell he BECAME Mayhem....perhaps...hrm.

So basically when he and Klogg fight again and we all know it is coming. This time when they fight it will be to the death. Either Klogg will destroy Mayhem or he will take out Klogg.

There will be no middle ground this time. That fight will be for it all between them and either the necromancers gain Mayhem or our side will have Klogg once more.

I have seen one of these Birds of Light on my patrols but have not seen it in some time, since the time of the undead attacks on the town, If I happen to see it again I will report it to all of you.

**rolling bandages after the long weekend**

We all saw birds of fire fly over Midway this weekend... I assume these are the birds of life, or phoenix.

I also heard of a long lost family of vampire slayers who were discovered, and that perhaps one of their number might be the one who will fight Mayhem?

*Kimberlyn looks a little sad, yet at the same time firery and determined.*

One way or another Mayhem will go down. If the answer lies in this family of vampire slayers then so be it. He will go down. Jarrick did and at one point in time we thought him impossible to take down. This one is no exception.

He will PAY for what he has done.

*Kimberlyn stops speaking and stares into the fire pit.*

Twilight frowns deeply as a single tear runs down her cheek*

Yes, the Birds of Life flew over Midway. The fourth and fifth line of this stanza have come to pass.

*she composes herself*

the hero long lost has returned.

*Kimberlyn looks up from the fire and tries really hard to compose herself as well.*

Unfortunately at the cost of one of our own...

*She runs her hand over her eyes*

I still can't believe he is gone.

*She looks back down into the fire pit.*

**stops rolling bandages for a moment**

I understand that Klogg was a very dear friend to many in town... I'm sure it is no consolation to those who remain behind, but from what I have heard of this very brave and generous orc, I believe he would have wanted to leave this world in battle, as he has done. I am sure there will be a place for him in Split Skull mountain.
