6: They wane, they fall, their end comes nigh

Post by Jenna »

6
They wane, they fall, their end comes nigh, without renewal.
Yet…
A man, nay, an elf will wield once more the Great Staff.
By power of Light to unite fire and ice, air and earth.
But not all dream of what was or should be.
So once more the shadow of Darkness shall fall upon the land.
The Great War that was shall come again,
To save or destroy them all, only time shall tell.

Please discuss below.

Ok, what I get from this is that the weilder is going to be an elven magi once more uniting the four elements.

I have no idea where this great staff is or anything like that, but that is what I am picturing.

the Great Staff

Post by Jenna »

This Great Staff, whatever it is, seems to be a major key to the puzzle. Hopefully someone knows what it is.

And possibly where it can be found.

Maybe it is a magical item... one that enables the user to unite the elements?

My thoughts

Post by Guest »

Once again I will share my thoughts on this passage.

I believe this stanza is in reference to the great elven mage Raphisto.

My logic in this is somewhat hard to explain but I will try:

1. Raphisto has not been seen in many days...he is searching the land for something. perhaps it is the staff

2. Raphisto is the only mage that I know of who has the power to even come close to the old magics. From what I have heard he can wield magics of the 5th tier...which is close to being of the old world magics.

3. Raphisto is an elf.

4. Umm...I dont really have a fourth. But i think the first 3 are at least enough to consider this as a possiability for now.

I have to agree with Tee that this may very well be referring to Raphisto. Though, if that is the case, I note an inconsistency with the stanza making sense in the great scheme of the whole Prophecy.

I feel stanzas 2-5 and 7-12 refer to races. If that is so, than this as stanza 6 should also refer to a race, not an individual.

What Tee is saying is making sense though.

Rafisto has been gone for some time and until now I really hadn't heard what had become of him and what his was doing.

Vandrel took his place as the ruler of the High Council.

But what Tee was saying about his power and all is exactly correct.

*Twilight frowns a bit*

I have been able to verify that this stanza does indeed refer to Raphisto. Also, Darkness indicates Necromancers.

*pause*

I have also discovered that the first line can be read;
They all wane, they all fall, all of their end comes nigh, without renewal.
Meaning All Elves.

Let us hope Raphisto succeeds in finding the Staff ...
... and that he wields it for the greater good ...
