Dec 2017 Teaser

Post by GM Evan »

The chill of winter has begun to fall over Midway and the surrounding villages. The local villagers spend most of their time hunkered inside enjoying the labors of their recently gathered harvests while warming hands by the fire. The children speak excitedly about the visit from Nick of the North the past year, and hopefully talk of his return this year. Their parents smile at them and hug them tightly, for it is not often that the children are happy to help out around the house and are on their best behavior from a random stranger visiting with gifts last year.

In the local pubs talk turns more serious but still in a jovial and conversational manner. Concerns over the increased tax on the harvest this year being the primary topic. Many villagers speak about how this is the first decent harvest they have had in several years and the nobles are taking it from them. Most feel content that they have enough to get through the winter, even if things will be a bit tight instead of the comfortable rest they had hoped for after the harvest.

Small items of little consequence have begun to disappear from the area. Nothing major, a gardening tool here a small trinket there. Nothing substantial but certainly a bit of an inconvenience for the local populace.

Bethany of Green Grove brings word to town that many of the children in the area are having nightmares and she is concerned what it could mean. Her reports indicate that many of them awake in cold sweats fearing that they have been “bad children” and will be punished by some monster for their actions. A few have even whispered the name “Krampus” in regards to this punishing figure. While this is not entirely unheard of, Bethany explains that she can normally calm the children with stories about Nick of the North who is the keeper of a special magic called the “Dreams of the North” that protect good children from the evil monsters. This year the stories are finished but the children still huddle in their beds afraid of being hunted.

What is the story behind these dreams of “Krampus”, Why are Bethany’s stories of Nick not helping as they have in the past, Why are items disappearing from the area, and most importantly will have you been a good little boy or girl this year? Please join us and find out the answers to all this and more at the upcoming December CARPS event – “Dream of the North” being held at Camp Talahi in Howell MI from Dec 8th – 10th. Arrival/setup begins at 5pm, check in will begin around 6pm, game on meeting at 9pm, and game on around 10pm.
