Nov 2016 Teaser

Post by GM Evan »

Gru’mith, the evil treant, destroyed; the Barkspeak and Charred Heart recovered and returned to the Ga’Vin; evil thwarted and Midway once again victorious; but if that is all true … then why do you have this impending sense that things are not over for the Ga’Vin? As you head to the Silver Rose for a warm glass to drink, a cold wind brushes past you and whispers in your ear. Pulling your cloak tighter to ward off the cold you open the door to the warm tavern and join your friends for a quiet celebration of your victories.

Throughout the forest, the trees have a sinister look to them - especially at night - and the cold wind rustles the leaves as autumn peaks and winter slowly creeps forward. Those who thrive in the woods constantly feel as though they are being watched and those who do not thrive in the woods are even more unwilling to traverse it after dark.

Most nights, the howling of wolves can be heard in the distance; and many villagers keep staff or knife close at hand while they huddle around the fire, waiting impatiently for the morning sun to rise.

Farmers speak of the land being afraid, as though such a thing were possible. They speak of strange things seen out of the corner of the eye and whisper of a hidden figure that moves in the shadow of the forest; seeking, looking, or perhaps hunting someone, someplace, or something. Bloodmoon may have passed, but it seems to have left remnants of itself behind this year.

An illness is spreading through the local villages. Nothing fatal, but it does appear to be widespread and the healers of Green Grove are working diligently to ensure that everyone is cared for. Medicinal supply stockpiles are being reduced and the word is that while even Tarragon is suffering from this illness, it is offering what aid it can. Several of the military’s healers are traveling the villages helping distribute poultices and curatives where they can.

In Miller’s Down, the loss of a grain silo last moon had many villagers concerned with having enough stores for the winter; but in the past several weeks, many villagers report waking up to find several pieces of silver slid under their door. None can say where it came from, but all are thankful that someone is watching out for them and helping to ensure they have the needed supplies to make it through winter. Hopefully another merchant caravan will arrive before the snows set in and the town guard is able to curb this bandit problem.

Will things get better before winter arrives? Can you discover the mystery of the forest? Will you help those who are ill and in need of care? What does the sinister wind mean, and why are so many wolves around? Who is the dark figure moving in the shadows, and what do they seek?

Come find out at the upcoming CARPS event, Nov 11th – 13th!
