Music, fun, and best of all, lots of Ale! One cannot ask for more than that, except for a warm bed, which they have as well.

Rules to observe when posting in the In-Game forum

Post by X-GM Sam »

Welcome to the CARPS Ironguard Campaign In-Game Forum. The In-Game Forum(s) allow characters (players) to roleplay interactions with one another between live action Events. However, unlike live action, an on-line forum does not take place in real time, so there are some simple rules to follow regarding posts.

Quick Summary:
Stick to lighthearted roleplaying and discussion of events.
All posts become In-Game information known to all who read them.
If you want to involve another player directly in your roleplaying, remember that they, not you, must determine and post their reactions.
You cannot use skills on the forum.
Do not try to 'hide' your identity in the forum.
Some good advice to remember: be careful about using sarcasm, for without facial expressions / voice intonations, your written words may sound far harsher than you intended.

Posts are In-Game
Always remember that anything you (your character) says is treated as In-Game information by everyone who reads your post(s). You can have your character say anything you want. Just let it be known that everyone now knows about it and can use it against you if they wish.

You do not control the actions of others
Since you only control the actions of your character, you are only allowed to explain things your character might be doing publicly, i.e, walking, running, swaggering, etc.
Examples:
You can have your character shout out info.
You can have your character 'whisper' something to someone (OOG-send me an email), but now everyone in the room knows to whom you were whispering to.
You can have your character walk into the bar. “Thane Galen Campbell staggers into the Inn, covered in dust from the road.”
You can describe a dramatic entrance. The character of Gildain returns from a long trip abroad. Since his character does indeed own a griffon In-Game, he decides that he arrives in town on his griffon. “A speck is seen off in the distance. As it approaches, it can be seen to be a griffon bearing a rider. It settles down in front of the Barracks, and Gildain dismounts.”

Remember that describing what should be a private scene makes it public knowledge, and then it's just strange to understand why everyone would know about that incident.
(If you wish to submit a story, either place it under the Random Mental Regurgitation forum, or submit it to the web master to possibly be placed into the separate Story section.)

You cannot use Skills on the forums
You can have your character (only) do anything that does not require a skill or money to accomplish, or to which another character (PC or NPC) might take direct action.
Examples:
You cannot send a messenger or someone to speak in your stead without marshal approval (requires In-Game money).
You can have your character offer to shake hands with someone, but you can not have them actually do so. After all, the other player might not let you. That is always their choice, not yours.
Under no circumstances are you allowed to narrate what another character says or does.

You cannot hide your character's identity
Since all posts on the In-Game Forums are public, everyone always gets to know which character made the post. Do not try to 'hide' your identity in the forum, since the skills necessary to do so cannot be used on the forum.
Example:
You can put a proclamation on the door of the Inn, but you must remember that everyone got to see your character put up the post. Also realize that any other character is then allowed to tear down the note as well.
Posts by “mysterious forces”, “dark shadows,” voices in the wind,” or other such nonsense, will be noted and the poster will be either warned or even possibly banned if deemed intentionally disruptive.
