General Fuller directs his attention at Moki. “These lands have been formally settled by the Kingdom of Silverthorne. The King, himself, has formally declared all of Ulric’s Gift a part of his Kingdom. Perhaps –“

“Just as the Emperor has declared it a part of Lethnal.” Moki interrupts. “And as Lethnal troops, not those of Silverthorne, now occupy Ulric’s Gift, I would think it plain whose declaration is true, and whose is false.”

“King Silverthorne’s word is law.” Garce interjects. “Your refusal to return the occupied lands justly claimed by Silverthorne could be considered an act of war.”

Moki chuckles at this, then laughs outright. “Funny thing. The scry shields of your glorious army dropped suddenly during the summer – apparently something to do with attrition amongst your mages. Suddenly the stars told us everything of your predicament. We know of your losses. We know the condition of your military. And given this knowledge, your threats ring quite hollow.”

General Fuller stands, his face reddening. “Nevertheless you do not want us as an enemy.”

“Nevertheless,” Moki answers nonchalantly,” you are not an enemy of any concern.”

Fuller begins to bellow a reply, but Morrow stops it by placing a hand on his shoulder. He speaks calmly in his stead. “My records indicate the Expeditionary force was but a fraction of what Silverthorne is capable of mustering when its lands are threatened. And I can assure you it is mustering as we speak. With the aid of our High Elven and Gnomish allies, an army unrivalled in this world will soon march upon you, should this unlawful occupation continue.”

“And I can assure you,” Moki counters in a low, dangerous voice, “what you see here is but a vanguard. With our Dark Elven allies, Lethnal’s mighty forces will crush whatever pinnace you manage to field against it. The age of Humans has waxed and waned – the age of the Avyana is at hand.”

Fuller straightens, brushing the folds out of his tunic. “We will convey your hostile attitude to the King. I doubt you will find his response to your liking."

Moki nods as he motions to the soldiers along the walls. “Escort our guests back to the Portal and off the Emperor’s lands.”
