The Sergeant stands there a moment fuming, then turns and strides swiftly from the town center, heading back to the now-walled Portal camp. The soldiers watch him leave, then turn and follow the prisoner into the Inn.

*Kathryn ignores the peanut while she watches the Sergeant go before turning to his soldiers*

I see you all are a bit more level headed. That is good.

*she leads the prisoner to an empty jail cell and locks him inside, then speaks to the soldiers again.*

It would be most appreciated if you would guard this man until your Sergeant returns with the documents requested.

“Yes, ma’am.” One of them replies. Then they look at each other, and another asks,

“What are we doing for evacuation?”

*Kathryn arches an eyebrow, her hand resting on her sword hilt*

Evacuation? We are the last line of defence for our Kingdom, good man, and you ask about evacuation?

*She shakes her head slightly, almost as if in disbelief*

I can not speak for you, but we are standing to fight. Surely the King's army will stand beside the Heros of Legacy to turn back the would-be ursurpers, the flood of evil that will be smashed between the Heros and the peaks of the Chaos Mountains like so much fragile glass.

*She then nods slightly, as if hearing them answer yes already*

The guards look at each other again, eyes wide in pale faces, but they say nothing.

*a voice can be heard speaking from inside the 'other' cell*

"Im working on an evacuation plan as we speak."

"Um... Kathryn..? Who did we just put in jail and why?"

*A large walnut hits Divin in the back of the head, with a smiling Avyana behind him.*

Divin, Divin, Divin...Didn't anyone ever tell you that it isn't polite to throw food?

*Nyrhtak snickers and looks around at all of those who he has not seen in some time, then turns his gaze toward the cells.*

So, anything new around here or is it same day different prisoner?

*Kathryn looks through the bars of the second cell to speak to Sylas*

A prisoner for you, of course. Didn't you hear the shouting?

Anyway, apparently he's to be beheaded for crimes against the army, most notably fleeing his post. However, the Sergeant who brought him in and was going to do the beheading didn't have any documentation from DeVris stating the man's guilt. So... we're waiting for that. And Mary, of course.

*The lump in the bed doesnt move*
"I heard it but I was trying to sleep, wasnt paying much attention really."
...
"He still has his head right?"

Coming in from the porch, Mary Baker pulls off a pair of riding gloves and tucks them behind her belt. She pulls off her plumed hat and addresses the conversation regarding the prisoner.

"Rest assured that I have already charged the Sergeant with the task of proving his claims and charges regarding this soldier. If he does not return with evidence within the next month, I will dismiss the entire thing.

How ignorant can it be that we'd murder our own troops when faced with such daunting tasks ahead. Ridiculous. As far as I'm concerned it's a done deal, but I will listen to the evidence I requested, should he return with it. I suspect the Sergeant will find other more productive tasks awaiting his return to the encampment.

Now, since the man has to be fed and lodged for the next month while awaiting trial, the will be costs incurred. I suggest the man work his debts to us off. The winter comes quickly and we will need firewood. The chinking of the Inn walls will need patching too, if we want to aviod drafts. These are tasks that can be done whilst keeping a close eye on our "prisoner". Does anyone object to this man earning his keep?"

*To Sylas*

Yes, he still has his head.

*To Mary*
Nice to see you in town again. I have no objection, of course. *she adds brightly* He's all yours now!

I've...been being. As for the stick, no such luck, though I do happen to know a certain Chaos Mage who would likely happily let you borrow his broom if you'd like one.

I've been away for some time now and decided to come visit my friends. I heard something big is going on out this way, but didn't bother to get any details.

So what's up?
