Taxes for August 1004
Music, fun, and best of all, lots of Ale! One cannot ask for more than that, except for a warm bed, which they have as well.

Taxes for August 1004

Post by Quinn »

This is the time where I let the members of the town that failed to come to me to pay their taxes, to pay now. You can send me a private message about what you need to pay in taxes. Please include the following information:

1. Services provided or goods sold
2. Tax Rate
3. Why you have that tax rate (writ, guild, etc.)
4. Barony that you sold those services in
5. Amount made
6. Amount due in taxes

It is in your best interest to pay your taxes on time.

Taxable items would includes services that you have performed, such as but are not limited to, smithing, guard duty, or selling items.

Non-taxable items would be if you kill some bandits and they have treasure of some sort on them. Another example would be include going adventuring into a cave and find a lot of money and gems. Now if you were to sell the gems to someone like Bombour or myself you would have to pay taxes on the sell of those gems.

Here is a scenario:

You kill a Ogre with a maul.

Once dead you find a satchel that contains 1 wald worth of coins and various gems. You also find that the maul is magical.

You go to Bombour and buy a drink and sell your gems to him.

You go to Rooks and ask him to identify the magical maul. Rooks charges you the standard Mages' Guild fee.

Since you do not use mauls you sell the maul.

Here is a breakdown of what is taxed and what is not taxed:
1. The 1 wald of coin: not taxable
2. The various gems (before selling them): not taxable
3. Bombour pays taxes on the drink he sold you.
4. You pay taxes on the gems you sold.
5. Rooks pays taxes on the fee he charged you for identifying the maul.
6. Last you pay taxes on the maul that you have sold.

The tax rates you pay on are dependent upon writs and if you are in a guild. You need a writ to sell any items or services.

If you need writs I am willing to write them for a reasonable fee.
