Wouldn't doing so without the permission of the King be treason though?

Not for a Squire charged with the mission and those gets to help him.

But DeVriss would be better able to determine that than ToeVass. I don't think he would be chared with preventing a war and charged with treason for doing so.

*Twilight regards Daniel*

First you wish me to join VLO, now Toevass ...

*she smiles slightly, a twinkle in her eye*

... it would appear as if I have escaped your clutches once more.

*the smile fades as she turns to Nyrhtak*

Sending a small force to determine whether or not this 'Army of Elves' are truly minions of Regal would be breaking no laws. I agree that uncovering their true motivations and affiliations are the first step.

*as an afterthought*

Of course, if I should scry upon them and recieve the vision of Regal's block - that is not enough ... is it?

I will just have to keep trying, my goodwoman.

Sure, sure, all smiles to Daniel all frowns to me.

In any event, I have no idea if the kingdom would consider that treason or not. I just don't want to go consult with an invading army is all ;-) However scrying on that army would be a GREAT idea. If you find that your are blocked by Re'Gaul, then I think sending an emmisary might not be the best of plans. :)

*Twilight rolls her eyes and smiles playfully to Nyrhtak*

There - a smile for you ... feel better now?

*the smile fades as her features appear blank ... she sighs deeply*

I am uncertain about the usefullness of sending an emissary to this 'Elven Army', but know that I still fully intend to send word to the Queen urging the Elves to stay within their borders - for their own safety.

Just remember that a simple scry cannot be relied upon for balanced information. It is definitely a useful step, but there are many ways to deceive, and likely Re'Gaul knows almost all of them.

Wouldn't Re'Gaul placing a scry shield over an elven ceremonial group be an amusing option if we were searching for his forces? Some less-wise groups might do something very rash.

I was gonna sugest Fidelus for investigating, but after my comment about almost certain doom if it turns out to be Regal there, I figured it either too costly or considerable a threat... neither option seemed to fit to me...

*Twilight turns to Darthesis and nods approvingly*

Exactly the manner of that which I would like to prevent.

*she then regards Daniel*

Any attempt to scry upon Regal would require more power than, I think, anyone here could gather ... even working together. But, as always, I thank you for the offer.

Got any of that not so bad news you're famous for? We could use some.

*Twilight ponders a moment*

Hmmm ... not so bad news ...

*she smiles as her eyes widen*

How about, we are all still alive ... for now.

*Opens her eyes from meditating hearing all words spoken thus far. Her voice extremely calm and relaxed.*

Humm...us still being alive is about what I was going to say Winter Twilight.

Due to Re'Gaul being able to block being gazed opon using Winter Twilight's methods the thing to do would be to send a small party to take a closer look at the situation.

A scouting party or fact finding group as it were...

Or we could just kill the troops attacking the elves.... *shrugs* but then again.... I would be the last person to ask for advice on a sensitive diplomatic matter. Damn itchy spell casting fingers after all.

*Mylo slides back through the door and sidles up behind the bar to refill mugs and tankards (and saucers).*

Perhaps with this Regal trying to manipulate all of our minds with misinformation and distraction, what are our chances of returning the favor?

What do we really know about it? Regal that is. Do we know his fears and deepest hatreds? If so perhaps we can twist them against him, even if it is only an illusion of well woven misinformation and rumor.. It wouldn't hurt at least if the bad guy was chasing down rumors as well.

Does this seem possible?

*Mylo collects three empty mugs off the bar and begins to juggle them. He then sets them down with a flourish fills them at once. He then turns the bottle up to his own mouth, frowns that it is empty and sets it aside.*
